“We are excited to kick off our second season,” said Jared Owen - 500 Sprint Car Tour, Series Director. “The inaugural season was a huge success due in large part to our teams, partners, race tracks and fans. We look to expand on what we started last year and continue the resurgence of pavement non-wing sprint car racing!”

Tour Staples Return

Anderson Speedway will remain a staple on the 500 Sprint Car Tour schedule with four events in 2023 including the Little 500. The 23rd Running of the Glen Niebel Classic will take place on April 8th as a tune up event for the Little 500. The series will then return to Anderson on July 8th and October 7th for the 2nd Annual Gene Nolen Classic and the 8th Annual Tony Elliott Classic. Each of the races in 2022 saw four different winners Tyler Roahrig, Kyle O’Gara, Kody Swanson, and Bobby Santos III.

Fans of the series will see two familiar tracks as the 500 Sprint Car Tour returns to Berlin Raceway on June 10th and July 22nd, as well as a trip to Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park for the Championship event on October 14th. The event at Lucas Oil IRP will be the 64th running of the Joe James/Pat O’Connor Memorial. Tyler Roahrig went to victory lane in the 63rd, and the first at Lucas Oil IRP, edition of the historic sprint car race.

New Venues Added for 2023

Three new tracks have found their way onto the 2023 schedule with trips to Toledo Speedway on June 18th, the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway on July 29th, and Lorain Raceway Park on September 9th.

Toledo Speedway in Toledo, Ohio will be a familiar sight for fans and drivers alike as the track has been a mainstay on the USAC Silver Crown Series schedule. Many drivers that compete on the 500 Sprint Car Tour also compete in the USAC Silver Crown Series, specifically in the pavement events. As the 500 Sprint Car Tour expands its reach further into the midwest, the half-mile oval will play host to the first event contested in the state of Ohio for the second year series.

The 40-lap race at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway will be the first non-wing sprint car race competed at the 0.596 mile track since 2004. The USAC sanctioned event played host to twin 77 lap features won by Bob East and Dave Steele respectively. The non-wing sprint cars will be joined in 2023 by pro late models, a local division for Nashville. Dylan Fetcho won the 2022 Pro Late Model season championship at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway by a narrow 12 point margin over Hunter Wright.

Lorain Raceway Park in Amherst, Ohio will play host to the 500 Sprint Car Tour despite being known as a super modified and winged sprint car track. The ⅜ mile egg shaped oval is a semi banked track with banking topping out at 12 degrees in the corners. The Midwest Non-Wing Sprint Series made an appearance in 2017 with Bobby Santos III winning the race. Before that Bob Frey took the win in the most recent non-wing sprint car start in 1981.

Continued Focus on Streaming and Television Coverage

All ten races of the 2023 season will be streamed live via MAVTV on Floracing. Seven of the ten contests will be aired on MAVTV Network as a post production. Announcements will come at a later date of the seven races being chosen to air on MAVTV Network.

The United States Speed Association - Kenyon Midget Series will accompany the 500 Sprint Car Tour at 6 races in 2023. They will join the tour at Anderson Speedway, Berlin Raceway, and Lorain Raceway Park. The 500 Sprint Car Tour will continue to partner with the series as a training ground for future sprint car teams and drivers.
