Davey Hamilton Jr Carries Recent Hot Streak Into 500 Sprint Car Tour Season
Arguably one of the hottest racers in short track racing in 2023, Davey Hamilton Jr. has committed to running the majority of the 500 Sprint Car Tour schedule. Driving for Kirk Morgan Racing and team owner Kirk Morgan, across both winged and non-winged events, Hamilton Jr. has amassed a nine race win streak dating back to October 8th, 2022. His most recent victory came on February 26th at the 4th Annual Dave Steele Classic at Showtime Speedway near Clearwater, Florida.
“Our goal as a team is to win as many races as possible.” said Davey Hamilton Jr. “We are not focused on a specific sprint car series but on certain races this season.”
Along with competing in the Must See Racing winged sprint car series and the USAC Silver Crown Series, Hamilton Jr. and Kirk Morgan Racing will continue to grow their non wing sprint car outfit by competing in the 500 Sprint Car Tour. In 2022 the duo had hopes of running all the 500 Sprint Car Tour races, but were only able to compete in six of the nine races and finished in the top-15 in points standings. Hamilton Jr. had a best finish of 7th on two separate occasions during the 2022 season and will look to improve on that as he is currently a favorite to compete for race wins in 2023.
“We feel like our non-wing program has seen a major improvement. We won the Dave Steele Classic at Showtime (Speedway) in February and are looking forward to the non-wing season up north.”
Hamilton and Kirk Morgan Racing, based out of Tampa, Florida, have committed to running six 500 Sprint Car Tour events, including the 75th Annual Lucas Oil Little 500 presented by UAW on Saturday, May 27th. The team will also compete in the series’ inaugural events at Toledo Speedway and Nashville Fairgrounds, as well as one event at Berlin Raceway on July 22nd, the 8th Annual Tony Elliott Classic at Anderson Speedway on October 7th, and Championship Weekend at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park on Saturday, October 14th.
Davey Hamilton Jr. will continue to receive support from Morgan Exteriors, T.Carreno Fill Haulers, Impact Race Products, Ripprint, Go Fast Take Chances, Ron Burkhardt, Fritz in Fishers, United Speedworld, Central Marketing Transport Services, Thin Energy Hydration, List Designs, and Simonton Windows
The 500 Sprint Car Tour will run a 10 race schedule from early April through mid October. Nine of the 10 races are points earning events with the 75th Annual Lucas Oil Little 500 presented by UAW (Saturday, May 27th, 2023) being a non-points earning special event.
