Davey Hamilton Jr. to Participate in Crown Jewel Race

Davey Hamilton Jr. has entered the 76th Annual Little 500 presented by UAW. This will be Hamilton Jr.’s seventh attempt at the Little 500 and his third consecutive entry with Kirk Morgan. Hamilton Jr. and Morgan finished 10th in last year’s 75th Annual Little 500.

In six Little 500 starts, Hamilton Jr. has a best finish of sixth, which came in his first career start in 2015. His best career starting position came in 2018 when he qualified on pole position, and went on to lead 25 laps. After a short break from Little 500 competition following that pole position effort, Hamilton Jr. returned to Anderson Speedway in 2022 with Kirk Morgan and the duo now continues to put an effort together going into their third attempt. The car that Kirk Morgan and Davey Hamilton Jr. entered for the 76th Annual Little 500 is the same car that Hamilton Jr. qualified on Pole Position with in 2018.

“I am excited to be back for this years Little 500 as we were on the fence about participating,” said Davey Hamilton Jr. “This is one of those crown jewels you mark on your calendar every year of a race you want to compete in. This is a joint effort with Davey Hamilton Racing and I can’t thank our partners enough for helping us attempt it again this year.”

In 2023, Hamilton Jr. promoted the richest pavement open wheel event in the world when he created the Open Wheel Showdown. According to OpenWheelShowdown.com, “The Open Wheel Showdown is the Modern Era Copper world classic. Winged Sprint Cars, Super Modifieds, and Midgets competed for the highest paying short track asphalt open wheel purse of all-time in 2023, with over $250,000 awarded including $50,000 to the Sprint Car winner. Over 100 race teams descended on the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and thousands watched live around the world on Speed Sport TV!”

Hamilton Jr. has not competed in a 500 Sprint Car Tour sanctioned event since the 2023 Little 500 at Anderson Speedway. After competing in six events in 2022 and finishing 15th in the point standings, Hamilton Jr. and owner Kirk Morgan focused on their Winged Sprint Car efforts in 2023. With the goal of competing in more non-wing events in 2024, the first step was an entry into the 76th Annual Little 500 presented by UAW.

The 76th Annual Little 500 presented by UAW will be held on Saturday, May 25th at 8:00pm. Tickets for the event are available now and are reserved seating only. All tickets are $45 and can be purchased online HERE or by calling Anderson Speedway Monday through Friday from 10am-4pm. The event will also be streamed live on DIRTVision.
