ROAHRIG SPEEDS TO 500 TOUR VICTORY AT BERLIN
Tyler Roahrig made an inside pass of race leader Kyle O’Gara on lap 10 and never looked back on his way to the Auto Value Bumper to Bumper 500 Sprint Car Tour feature event at Berlin Raceway Saturday night. It was the third career series victory at the speedway for Roahrig. Roahrig won 2 previous events last season.
Roahrig began the feature event from the eighth starting position after setting quick time in qualifications and inheriting an 8-invert number. Roahrig wasted no time getting to the front once the green flag drop aided by early lapped traffic. Roahrig dove under race leader Kyle O’Gara going into turn one in a surprise move on lap 10. Roahrig would go on to win by a margin of 2.9 seconds over runner up Bobby Santos in the 40-lap feature event.
Billy Wease came home third followed by Kody Swanson and Kyle O’Gara rounding out the top five.
“It was about going where they’re not I think, and making sure your car can do that” as he explained his pass for the lead. “It was a great night for us overall, west fast time and won the race. The car was good. I was on the phone all day with one of my buddies trying to get the car dialed in. Seems like we got it.”
The Auto Value Bumper to Bumper 500 Sprint Car Tour feature will next be in action Sunday June 18 at Toledo Speedway for a special Father’s Day racing event.
