500 Sprint Car Tour Heads to Berlin Raceway for Final Time in 2023
For the second and final time in 2023, the 500 Sprint Car Tour presented by Auto Value Bumper to Bumper Parts Stores is set for a date with Berlin Raceway. The track has played host to three 500 Sprint Car Tour events since the start of the 2022 season and has become a mainstay on the series calendar. The July 22nd date at Berlin will transition the series into the second half of their season, and paint a solid picture of how the Championship Points Standings will take shape.
The previous three races at Berlin Raceway have been dominated by Tyler Roahrig. Currently sitting in second place for points, Roahrig will need another dominating performance to solidify his championship form. When the series visited Berlin in early June, Roahrig began the race in eight place following a qualifying invert. By lap 10 he had moved into first place and never looked back. He went on to lead the final 30 laps of the event for his third straight victory at the Michigan track. Roahrig will be a favorite going into Saturday as he chases championship leader Kody Swanson for the top spot in the series.
Kody Swanson is the most recent victor for the 500 Sprint Car Tour, having won the last two races at Toledo Speedway and Anderson Speedway. Swanson played the patience game at Anderson leading only the final eight of the scheduled 100 laps. Passing Bobby Santos III on the final restart of the night, Swanson held off a hard charging Kyle O’Gara to win his second race of the season. The defending series champion once again finds himself atop the points standings, albeit a slim margin, and will look to dethrone Tyler Roahrig at Berlin Raceway for his third straight victory.
In what will surely be the most unique event on the 500 Sprint Car Tour Schedule, the Christmas in July event at Berlin Raceway will be a companion event between the 500 Sprint Car Tour, Must See Racing, and the USSA Kenyon Midgets. The companion race will be the first of its kind since 2010 as the only two 410 pavement sprint car series in the country will be competing on the same day at the same racetrack. Fans will notice one significant difference between these two racing series, as Must See Racing promotes a winged sprint car that produces high downforce and blistering speeds, while the 500 Sprint Car Tour boasts a non-winged sprint car that produces extreme horsepower and grueling side by side racing.
The 500 Sprint Car Tour will be joined at Berlin Raceway by the USSA Kenyon Midget Series, Must See Racing winged sprint cars, and Sportsman Late Models. General Admission gates open at 4:00pm and rotating practice subsequently begins at 4:00pm. Qualifying for the 500 Sprint Car Tour is set to begin at 6:00pm with racing beginning at 6:30pm. The 500 Sprint Car Tour feature is the final feature of the night and will be featured on FloRacing. Tickets for the event are on sale now and can be purchased here for a special price.
