Roahrig Looks to Continue Berlin Dominance

The 500 Sprint Car Tour has made three trips to Berlin Raceway in Marne, Michigan since the beginning of the 2022 racing season. All three visits were won in dominating fashion by one driver, Tyler Roahrig. Roahrig will look to continue his dominance over Berlin as he prepares for a sprint car double duty this coming weekend.

“Berlin (Raceway) really fits my driving style," explained Tyler Roahrig. “I grew up racing at tracks like Kalamazoo and New Paris, which are similar to Berlin. They are all very high momentum tracks and teach you to carry speed through the corners.”

When the 500 Sprint Car Tour travels to Berlin on Saturday, July 22nd, they will be joined by their Winged counterparts, the Must See Racing series that promotes winged sprint cars. For the first time in his career, Roahrig will drive a winged sprint car and a non-wing sprint car at the same track on the same night. Although the cars will drive very differently from each other, the extra laps around a track he is already very familiar with will surely make Roahrig a favorite to win his fourth straight non-wing event at the Michigan track.

“This weekend is going to be a challenge for me,” proclaimed Roahrig. “My attention is going to be split between the CB Fabricating #56 Non-Wing Sprint Car and the Statham Construction #36 Winged Sprint Car. I think the track is also going to be different with two different tire compounds on the race track.”

In three races at Berlin Raceway since the beginning of the 2022 racing season, Roahrig has led an astonishing 79 of 120 laps. He has also set fast times in qualifying in all three events and has battled from two eighth place draws and a sixth place draw. Taking more than 10 laps to reach the front only once, Roahrig’s speed showed through in clean air and in traffic. Roahrig has a combined margin of victory of 8.189 seconds between his three victories at Berlin, giving him an average margin of victory of 2.729 per win.

Roahrig currently sits in second place atop the Championship Points Standings for the 2023 season. He trails defending series champion, Kody Swanson, by 11 points and is looking forward to this weekend’s event at Berlin as an opportunity to take over the top spot. With a win on the season, including three top-three performances, Roahrig has shown he can have consistent championship pace. Swanson is currently the only multi-time winner this season and Roahrig will look to join that company in the series’ final trip to Berlin in 2023.

The 500 Sprint Car Tour will be joined at Berlin Raceway by the USSA Kenyon Midget Series, Must See Racing winged sprint cars, and Sportsman Late Models. General Admission gates open at 4:00pm and rotating practice subsequently begins at 4:00pm. Qualifying for the 500 Sprint Car Tour is set to begin at 6:00pm with racing beginning at 6:30pm. The 500 Sprint Car Tour feature is the final feature of the night and will be featured on FloRacing. Tickets for the event are on sale now and can be purchased here for a special price.
