After running a limited schedule in 2022, Jake McElfresh from Elwood, Indiana will return to the #64 Speed Chasers Sprint Car owned by Tom Brewer. Although McElfresh competed in the 2022 Little 500 for Powell Motorsports, he ran in four events on the 500 Sprint Car Tour schedule for Speed Chasers. The duo will once again pair together to run the full 500 Sprint Car Tour schedule in 2023, including the 75th Annual Lucas Oil Little 500 Presented by UAW.

“Working with Tom and the Speed Chasers team is a pleasure,” said Jake McElfresh. “I feel like we all have common goals that we are working towards.”

McElfresh made three of his four starts in 2022 for Speed Chasers at Anderson Speedway. His fourth appearance came during the Great Lakes Challenge event held at Berlin Raceway in Marne, Michigan. McElfresh finished the 2022 season with four top 15’s, three top 10’s, a best finish of sixth, and an average finish of 8.75. The team will look to build on the consistency McElfresh displayed in 2022 as they compete for the 500 Sprint Car Tour Championship in 2023.

“Tom is a very brilliant man and I have learned alot from him already,” McElfresh said when asked about his new owner, Tom Brewer. “He is also open to trying new and experimental setups and understands the time it takes to try them. I feel as though our team has all the correct ingredients to win races this year; we just have to get them mixed together.”

Many fans will recognize the McElfresh name as he was an accomplished stock car driver before focusing his efforts on open wheeled sprint car racing. Spending multiple seasons with the CRA Street Stocks, McElfresh was consistently fast and was eventually crowned champion. In 2018, he was named the Five Crown Champion and was also awarded the PGG Sportsman of the Year Award. He followed suit in 2019 as he was crowned the CRA Street Stocks Series Champion.

The 500 Sprint Car Tour will run a 10 race schedule from early April through mid October. Nine of the 10 races are points earning events with the 75th Annual Lucas Oil Little 500 presented by UAW (Saturday, May 27th, 2023) being a non-points earning special event.
