Nick Marcott and Schwarz Racing “Excited” about 2023
Nick Marcott and Schwarz Racing have committed to competing in the 500 Sprint Car Tour in 2023. Marcott, along with team owners Karl and Craig Schwarz, ran multiple events with the 500 Sprint Car Tour in 2022, and will compete in the majority of events this summer.
“I’m super excited about this year,” said Nick Marcott - Driver of the Schwarz Racing #27. “The game plan is to run a full show in 2023 for the 500 Sprint Car Tour with the exception of the Little 500”.
Marcott, a Michigan native, was able to compete in one of the two races held at Berlin Raceway in Marne, Michigan during the 2022 season. He also competed in the inaugural 500 Sprint Car Tour race at Plymouth Motor Speedway. Although he qualified well in both of his outings, mechanical issues shortened his nights. While the tour will not be returning to Plymouth Motor Speedway in 2023, the series will return to Berlin for two more events where Marcott will surely be a factor as he displays his talents in front of a hometown crowd.
“I got to run two shows last year at Plymouth and Berlin,” said Marcott. “I was able to talk with a lot of guys in the series about these cars. Which was awesome because everyone was really cool to talk to and was very willing to help me out. The excitement I have to run a sprint car at my home track (Berlin) is something I can’t even explain. I am just super excited”.
Marcott’s car owner, Karl Schwarz and his wife, have owned Schwarz Racing since 2015. The sprint car operation as of 2023 has now joined ownership with Karl’s brother Craig Schwarz. Nick Marcott and Karl Schwarz originally connected while working as supervisors in the oil industry back in 2012. Living right across the street from each other, Marcott actively works on the race car with the Schwarz brothers, assisting with maintenance, setups, and other aspects of the operation.
“The goal is to run every race outside of the Little 500”, said Schwarz - Owner of the #27 sprint car. “Along with running every points race comes the notion of wanting Nick to be named Rookie of the Year for the series. We believe that if we can run every race, and be consistent in our performance, that the goal of achieving Rookie of the Year is within grasp”.
The 500 Sprint Car Tour will run a 10 race schedule from early April through mid October. Nine of the 10 races are points earning events with the 75th Annual Lucas Oil Little 500 presented by UAW (Saturday, May 27th, 2023) being a non-points earning special event.
